Some Useful Tips and How to's for Clay Animation

Clay Animation - Problems!

Postby Noobster Studios » Wed Feb 06, 2013 4:18 am

I've been animating with lego for a time and now I think it's time for me to try to animate with clay. I think it's alot harder than lego.

When I am animating the clay is always moving around and it's looks pretty bad, is there anyway to prevent this?

Anyone have any tips or tutorials that I can take a look at for walk cycles and movements?

I watched some of your brickfilms..there good.
I guess the first I would say about Claymation the right clay.. ..must be oil based etc. Van Aken Plastalina is good.
Then you have to decide whether you are going to make clay characters with armature or not..if you are ..then plugboards will be needed to screw the characters feet to the ground etc.
Alternatively you could go the Knox route and use non armature characters.. much easier.

Let us know how you get on.
