Is it worth buying a stop-motion camera kit?

Hello animation people. My 11 year old son has started making stop-frame animation shorts, mainly involving Lego minifigures. He uses a basic digital camera and tripod, iMovie software on a Mac laptop, adding dialogue and music, then posts them to YouTube. It's laborious, but it seems to work. My question is - is it worth buying him a stop-frame animation kit for Christmas? There only seems to be one - Hue Animation Studio - and the feedback on Amazon is mixed, particularly about the camera quality, so I can't tell if it would be an upgrade for him, or more basic than what he is doing now. Any advice would be much appreciated... thanks.

Sorry for the late reply. Have you purchased something since you posted this? I also heard the webcam with HUE is not the greatest.
I would just purchase good animation software and purchase the webcam separately. you will need to spend up to 100 $ for a good webcam though.

Let me know what you did in the end?
